Welcome to Ladies of the Book! This is a blog authored by two ladies, Shira Aliza Petrack (right), and Yael Mizrahi-Arnaud, (left) who, after a fruitful fifteen or so years of friendship, decided to put their heads together, and connect their disparate sources of inspiration together into a blog.
Shira, living in Israel, recently completed her law degree. She loves Torah, will be contributing weekly divrei torah, (words of wisdom) on the weekly Torah portions.
Yael, a conflict management analyst working in Washington D.C., likes to escape the news cycle by reading obscure books on social psychology, philosophy, and Middle East history, and will be writing book reviews of the various books she comes across, as well as musings from an ever changing Washington D.C.
Posts will be published according to the Jewish tradition of reading the weekly Torah portion on Mondays and Thursdays, a schedule modeled after the days of the marketplace. We see this blog becoming a place akin to these marketplaces of yore– a place where people from all different backgrounds, and fields of interest, come to exchange goods, and ideas.
Please write to us with any suggestions, or if you would like to contribute a piece. We look forward to hearing from you.
